The Return of the Zone Read!

We are starting to see more zone read and QB designed runs at the NFL level. The Cardinals, Eagles, Bills and Ravens all use these designs. This is due to the running abilities of their QB. These 4 teams do a great job designing runs that take advantage of their QB all around ability.

Let’s start with the very talented Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals love to run it out of 13 and 12 personnel. The first design is extremely well designed.

The 1st example is running zone read out of 13 personnel. The 49ers Bosa comes down to play the zone play and Murray pulls it on the perimeter. the H comes across and blocks the CB.

They create great angles in the run game as they read Bosa who is circled.
