Gap Scheme Install: Using the Center in Pin and Pull Schemes
A very popular scheme this day and age is using your center in the pin and pull game. This is done vs both odd and even schemes. Some teams prefer pulling the center to the side of the 2i, and others will run it vs odd schemes and to the 3 technique side. Usually teams will pull another lineman to the play side with it, which I will show you in the 1st 10 clips. They will pull the play side guard or play side tackle with it.
Another great way to utilize it is to go 3x1 and run it back at a CB. The Bills do that below. You can do this with 3x1 or do it with condensed and crack on the DE and get a OT on a CB. Then have the center pull along with it.
It is also effective and should be utilized with teams play a 6i on the TE. It allows for a nice down block on the 6i by the TE who has an angle.
Below is an example running it to the closed side. The Bills are in 31 trips and have a guard pulling to kickout the CB. See first clip!
Another Scheme is to run it at the shade with a condensed set to create angles.
UCLA runs it at the 3 technique with the super pin and pull scheme.
Here is the video segment with about 10 clips and explanations!
I hope you enjoyed this quick analysis of center pulling schemes. You can use the center in the wrap game, pin and pull and counter scheme!
