Grading the Best Off Season =A+ Off Seasons Rams and Broncos
This article looks at 2 teams I believe have put themselves in Super Bowl contention with some of their upgrades. They are the LA Rams and Denver Broncos.
LA Rams
The Los Angeles Rams made several notable signings during the 2025 free agency period. Key acquisitions include wide receiver Davante Adams, defensive tackle Poona Ford, and the re-signing of left tackle Alaric Jackson and wide receiver Tutu Atwell. The team also brought back quarterback Matthew Stafford.
As a result I give them an A+ and they are my Super Bowl favorite.
Key Re-signings:
They did an excellent job keeping some of their best players.
On the offensive side:
It all started with QB Matt Stafford. He is the engine that makes them run.
On the Offensive Line: They resigned Alaric Jackson, Kevin Dotson and get a healthy Tyler Higbee back. These are key moves!
On the defensive side they resigned Ahkello Witherspoon, who has been a solid player the past few years at CB and the most underpaid player in football!
They made 3 key moves in free agency.
They lost a declining Cooper Kupp and replaced him with one of the best WR in Davante Adams. Davante was one of the top WR in the league the last 5 weeks as he hit his stride! Davante Adams had 36 catches for 510 yards and scored 5 touchdowns in 5 games in his last 5 games
The Rams acquired Adams on a two-year contract, bolstering their receiving corps.
Defensively:
They signed Poona Ford to a deal to play on the interior. He is one of the better run defenders in the league and makes their scary defensive line even better.
Ford signed a three-year deal, adding depth and run-stopping ability to the defensive line.
Linebacker
On the defensive side, they signed Nate Landman at LB. He will be an adequate replacement to Chris Rozeboom upon others. This was another upgrade.
Draft
They drafted a very versatile TE in the 2nd round in Ferguson. He can play from watching his film at Oregon. He is a weapon in the pass game and will fit nicely into some 12P packages the Rams may utilize a little more!
All these additions have made them Super Bowl contenders!
Denver Broncos
The Broncos had a great offseason and are maybe a WR away from being a championship contender. That depends on if their young WR step up. But, they did add Evan Engram, who does make their TE room better!
Key aspects of the Broncos' offseason:
Defense:
The Broncos focused on strengthening their defense, adding key players like Dre Greenlaw, Hufanga, and Jahdae Barron. These additions are expected to improve the team's already strong defensive performance and are considerable upgrades. When you watched the 49ers, Greenlaw and Hufanga were key components who made that defense better. When healthy, these 2 guys can play.
They already have a great DB with Surtain at CB and added Jahdea Barron, a great CB coming out of Texas is phenomenal. They also resigned DJ Jones so the defensive line is intact. This will be a top 5 unit and arguably the best defense in the league.
The unit got stronger with those 3 additions!
Offense:
The Broncos also made significant additions on offense, notably signing tight end Evan Engram and drafting running back RJ Harvey. They also signed JK Dobbins who if he regains his form, can form a 2 headed monster. These moves are aimed at providing more weapons for quarterback Bo Nix and improving the team's offensive output. These 2 are key signings as Engram is a weapon you can utilize inside, outside and split out on the backside of 3x1 formations. Who do teams put on him in man. LB can’t cover him. It gives Peyton a great addition and someone to really cause some matchup issues.
Offensive Line
They already have one of the best offensive lines in football with McGlinchey and Bolles at tackle, with great interior play from guards Meinerz and Powers and center Wattenberg.
WR Room
The only thing they are missing is another elite WR, but if they can get one, that offense will be even better.
Courtland Sutton is great, and if Mims and Vele can take the next step, this team can really be a tough matchup in the competitive AFC West!
Those are my two teams who I think have become legitimate Super Bowl contenders!
