Maryland's Mesh Traffic Passing Concept

Maryland is a high powered offense. Mesh traffic is one of the plays they run in their passing attack. It is part of the mesh passing game and an excellent play to run. It is effective because it is essentially 3 men setting a screen for 1 in the passing game coming the other direction. It is usually run from a 3x1 or empty 3x2 formation because the three WR are essentially setting a pick vs the db covering the WR on the other side.

Maryland has answers vs it vs man and zone and I will show you both. They also have a nice mesh traffic whip route play off it which is the 3rd clip in the series.

The Reads are primarily the same.

Vs Man RB Hot-1st crosser-2nd crosser

Vs Zone 1st crosser- 2nd crosser to otb sit routes

Vs Man

Here is the concept vs man. They get the nice rub route as the WR in trips picks the DB coming the other way.
