NFL Week 2: Top Takeaways, Thoughts and Reactions
The Cowboys have started hot and the Bengals have started slow. It’s not how you start but how you finish! Keep an eye on both teams. Jamar Chase has looked very average so I am waiting for him to explode! The Cowboys defense is on fire!
Lamar Jackson completion rate is on fire. 77% in Monken’s system. They are dispersing the football all over the field and it leading to efficiency in the pass game. Did a nice job vs a very good Browns defense.
The Jets are still cursed. I can’t believe Aaron Rodgers only played 4 plays. They did very little to get better on offense other than Aaron Rodgers. Starting to wonder if getting rid of Elijah Moore was the right thing to do. Hardman has 1 catch and Cobb has done more on hard knocks than he has in a football game. A WR other than Wilson needs to emerge. They didn’t address the backup QB situation and were more concerned with trying to justify their draft pick. The OT situation is not looking good, but everyone says that after playing Micah Parsons. Dalvin Cook looks like he lost a step.
The Falcons and Commanders are both 2-0. The Falcons have some weapons with Robinson, London and Pitts but more importantly, really upgraded their defense. It hasn’t gone unnoticed. I guess Bieniemy isn’t that tough after all. Whose complaining now?
The Chiefs offense looks very average and their defense has been carrying them. It’s not going to change much until they get better play on the outside. No real threat other than Kelce. Juju Schuster will be missed.
Who the heck is Puca Nacua. He set the NFL record with 25 catches in his first 2 games. The Rams are playing solid defense. They look far from a 5-12 team that we all predicted!
The Dolphins are a super bowl contender. They showed they can win in other ways other than throwing the ball. The Dolphins can run the football! That will make a world of difference moving forward. In addition, they have only allowed 1 sack.
Sometimes Trevor Lawrence looks like a rookie. Is he the real deal or just another Pederson, Reich, pass concept system guy. Jury is still out.
The Texans and Panthers are in for a long year. Not because of the rookie qb play but the lack of supporting cast around them. If your going to go with a rookie, you may want to add a #1 wr to the mix or have a dominant run game. You need to give those guys a chance and right now, it’s not looking to good.
The Seahawks, Eagles and Chargers better start playing some pass defense if they want to be playoff contenders. It needs to improve on the back end if those teams are going to have a legitimate super bowl run. The Eagles are 2-0 but it hasn’t been pretty.
When will the Vikings and Steelers find a run game. Those stats are disturbing. The Vikings have Kurt Cousins, the Steelers do not. If they don’t find a run game, it could be a long season for the Steel Curtain!
The Packers offense looks very good. 2nd in the league in scoring with the 2nd year QB. Looks like Lafleur is having fun actually calling a game again. That team is a playoff contender. Wait til they get some young WR back.
