Packers Offense: 3rd Down Passing Game Study

The Green Bay Packers were a a top 5 team on 3rd down in 2023. They were very efficient and ranked 3rd in the league at 47% efficiency. Let’s look at some of their 3rd down concepts that they had success with. I put together some of my favorite 3rd down route concepts that they run.

In this article, we will look at the following 3rd down situations:

They run an RPO on 3rd and 1 vs the Falcons. The defense is in man coverage. Love reads the CB biting on the fake which opens the TE to the flat.

The route concept is below:

The TE is wide open off the fake.

Another 3rd and 2 vs the Bucs. The Bucs blitz as the Packers are trying to run a rub route rpo concept off of wide zone. This creates the wide open TE off the 2 for 3 rub concept

They run a rub route for the outside TE on the slant. He wins as well as the wr running the out cut. Love has either one vs the Chiefs man coverage.
