Packers vs Chiefs 2023: How Matt Lafleur Sequences Plays in his System
The Packers are one of the best at sequencing plays and running different plays from different formations. I will look at some different games and how they accomplish this. They run plays off eachother as Lafleur is one of the best play callers in the game. As a defensive coordinator, you need to think ahead and beat him to the punch. No easy task as the Packers have various weapons in both the run game with Jacobs and numerous WR options.
One formation they use is 3x1 bunch. In this game vs the Chiefs, they run this formation and run some plays off it. They are great at creating plays that play off one another in their system.
Vs. the Chiefs
The 2 examples I have is with orbit motion and jet sweep with slice action. These 2 examples are below.
3x1 Orbit motion
The first 2 plays are with orbit motion.
Play #1 Toss
Play #2 Toss pass off the same action
3x1 Jet Motion with Slice Blocking Action
The next 3 plays are out of 3x1. They run Jet motion and have 3 plays sequenced off the jet motion that they run with the slice action.
#1 Jet Slice
They run jet slice from the 3x1 formation. They create movement with the jet motion and then run jet slice off it.
