RPO Analysis: Condensed RPO's at the college and NFL Level
I recently looked at several RPO variations from condensed formations. These are common with several teams but I looked at Alabama, The Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Alabama-Likes to run them off their 3x1 12 bunch set with the TE on the ball to the 1 wr side. They will often run it with their sweep blocking.
Buffalo-Buffalo likes to run it off their wrap type schemes. I’ve seen it with T wrap and some center guard fold schemes.
KC- The Chiefs run it often from 3x1 condensed with wide zone blocking. They get the horizontal stretch and have the ability to throw it to the trips side if #’s dictate that in their read process.
#1 Alabama Sweep RPO
Alabama comes out in 12 personnel with the TE aligned on the line away from the 3x1 bunch side.
The Qb reads the OLB and sees the 3 over 2 on the perimeter.
#2 Bills inside fold scheme with the center and Rt guard off the inside run action. Allen reads cover 3 and throws the slant behind the SS.
