RPO Screen Game-5 screens to add to your RPO Game.
The RPO Screen game is a very important aspect of the modern day offense. It is an excellent way to get the ball on the perimeter and get the ball into your playmakers hands.
There are 4 several you will see throughout college football. They can be combined with various run actions or just run without a run pass option. Many teams will give the qb a presnap read and ability to throw the football if he gets leverage on the outsides.
Arrow route RPO
Below Western Kentucky runs it off of Counter action. The qb likes the leverage on the outside so he throws the arrow screen.
If the qb likes the number on the perimeter throw the rpo. Western Kentucky runs it below.
Slip Screen RPO
This play is very popular. You see it from Lincoln Riley when he was at Oklahoma and currently at USC. Zach Kittley used in his offense as well. Again of you like the look after motion the qb can throw the football. If he doesn’t like the numbers, hand the ball off.
Here are 2 examples of the play.
Example #2 is short yardage vs man coverage. They use the #1 as the blocker as a wr and if the h back doesn’t trip, it is probably a touchdown!

20 Personnel
QB does a nice job reading the overhang. Flat is wide open. #2 blocks #2 Sam LB
Now screen
In this situation the qb looks to get the ball out quick but again this can be added to any play in the run game. If he looks out and gets 2 over 1 he can throw it. If not run the designated run scheme.
Inside zone, duo, wide zone all can be incorporated.
Here’s some other examples of some now screens from Western Kentucky.
4.Bubble Screen
The bubble screen was to me the one everyone ran back in the day. This play was the first and was often used as a way of running triple option. It is another way to get the ball on the perimeter quickly.
Other Bubble Screens
Here are some other bubble screens where they attack leverage on the perimeter.
5.Florida State Zone wr screen
Florida State runs it with zone blocking but take the h back and the Left tackle on the backside and lead them on the screen the other way. Florida State has a ton of screens that can be added to your offense.
2 clips of their WR Screen and how they block it!
These are all effective screens off run action that can be incorporated into your offense. Never to late to give your qb some options pre snap and get the ball into your playmakers hands.
