Tennessee University Passing Game Concepts: Comeback and Switch Route!
Let’s look at 2 concepts I really love to watch at Tennessee. As an offense they will often spread you out with really wide formations outside the hash and with stack formations, thus taking advantage of the spacing it creates. 2 Routes they use are comebacks and switch route concepts on the outside. This is an integral part of their spread passing attack.
Comeback
They run their comeback a few different ways and at different levels. But more often than not, it will be run with off coverage. When Heupel sees the CB off he will run this concept.

Switch Route Concepts
The Switch route can be run but basically is a switch with either 4 verts or the option to sit it down on the outside.
Option #1 The outside guy usually runs a switch curl or crossing route. The inside guy can run or sit it down. Both will be seen on film.
In this picture he has space so he runs. He has the option of either based on leverage.
Film
Both of these are excellent concepts to use in your vertical passing attack!
