The Next Head Coach of the NY Jets
The New York Jets are currently 3-6 and looking like a team that may not make the playoffs. After the season the Jets may be looking for a new head coach.
I do hope the Jets make the playoffs, but I see 3 interesting options for the NY Jets should they move on from Jeff Ulbrich if he does not make the playoffs. You have in 1 corner the Reclamations, the 2nd corner the Legends, and the 3rd corner the Young Guns.
Let’s look at the 3 options as I see them :
The Reclamation Project
The Eeclamation Project is a fun group that would bring some excitement and drama to NY football. Maybe Rex would get in a fist fight with his OC, the way he supposedly did with Marty Mornhinwig in their coaches meeting. That won’t happen because TV has calmed Rex down(sarcasm) but here’s the first staff.
HC Rex Ryan- The last coach to get the Jets to 2 AFC championships. Will implement a great defense and have the Jets as a defensive juggernaut with a very sound rushing attack. The Jets need an attitude adjustment and Rex would be it!
OC Jon Gruden-Coach Gruden would be a great choice. He had great success with some journeymen QB’s and knows how to teach offensive football. He has a Super Bowl ring to prove it!
DC Jim Leonhard-One of the best defensive minds in football, played for Rex and the Jets and knows the system inside and out. Those 2 would work great together. Part of the reclamation project because he was a top 5 DC in the country and got shafted by Wisconsin for the head job! Now the pass game coordinator working wonders assisting that Broncos defense.
The Legends
Let’s come together and put 2 legends at the college and NFL level on the same staff. We can have one of the 2 greatest of all time working together. Imagine Bill Belichick and Nick Saban on the same staff. What a great tandem that would be. That would be something. I know Woody and Bill have had their issues but hey, time heels all wounds!
Head Coach Bill Belichick would be the head coach and bring his 6 Super Bowl rings with him. He would be able to handle Aaron Rodgers for 1 year.
Defensive Coordinator Nick Saban would be the defensive coordinator and bring all his defensive knowledge with him.
Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniel would be the offensive coordinator. He had great success in New England and 6 of them with the New England Patriots as a Super Bowl champion.
The Young Guns
The only young gun I would want is the one and only Ben Johnson. He has the Lions playing at an incredibly high level and would be my young gun choice.
Head Coach Ben Johnson and his high flying offense! One of the best offenses in football for the past 2 years, how great would his mind be working with Aaron Rodgers and developing a younger QB for the future.
Defensive Coordinator I would go after Zach Orr from the Ravens. I know he’s currently a defensive coordinator, but if he only has a 1 year deal, I’m offering him more money. He is an outstanding young coach and has that Ravens defense playing at a higher level.
Offensive Coordinator I would bring Hank Fraley with him. The best way to steal him would by promoting him to offensive coordinator. They work great together and having him as the offensive line coach would be very important. Ben would call the plays but Hank as the run game coordinator would be a major grab!
Well, here are the 3 options laid out for you, who would you pick NY?
