Top Route Concepts of the 2023 Notre Dame Offense with Gerard Parker

Notre Dame ran some excellent concepts during the 2023 campaign. Their offensive coordinator was Gerard Parker. They were a very good passing team and finished the year 8th in the country in scoring.

They also averaged 6.7 yards per play and 8.9 yards per pass(14th in country).

#1 Scissors route

The scissors route is an excellent concept because it involves the #2 and #3 WR exchanging with the #2 WR running the post and #3 WR running the sail type concept. #1 will clear it out.

You will also release the RB to the flat which will create a high low on the alley defender.

Another route concept you will see often in the NFL is the scissors concept by #2 and #3.

#2 Sneak route /inside switch route down the seam with the dover

They ran this concept 2 times vs NC State. The H back will go in motion and they will release him down the #’s. The #2 WR will run a post route.
