Wake Forest QB Swing Draw RPO with the Tackle Dart/Wrap Scheme

Wake forest is an exceptional offense that gets so much out of it’s players. They have been great for years with their offense and especially the RPO game.

Wake Forest incorporates their tackle dart into a few rpos.

  1. Run Pass Option-They run a RB Swing QB Draw option with Dart Blocking.

On this play, they will run a swing to the running back with 3x1 or 2x2 formation strong and then run tackle dart with the tackle pulling to the LB in the other direction. They read the playside LB and if he runs to the swing the qb will keep it.

  2. Vs Bear, they will read the OLB and see if he peels. The play can be adjusted for the read and it is an easy play to install.

They also have a normal tackle dart play that they run with an rpo as part of the offense. They can run the bubble this way as well.

The best part of the play is it can be run from different formations and vs different defenses. You can run it out of 11 and 10 personnel and is can be effective. Whether the defense is in a 4-2 ,3-3 stack or bear front doesn’t matter as the play can still be run with just easy adjustments on who to read.

In the article we will focus on the tackle dart qb draw rpo with the RB Swing

Tackle Dart QB Draw RPO

Vs Even Front

In the even front vs 2x2 they will read the sam linebacker. They force the 4-3 front by going 2x2 with the TE flexed. Again you can run this out of 11 or 10 for the most part. I think the play is most conducive out of those sets.

The 4-2 LB walks out and that opens things up.

You can see the blocking below. The RT has to get the Mike LB.

Notre Dame runs a T and E game or this could have went for even more yards. They get a nice 7 yard gain on it.

Nice angles and Tackle has to get to the mike. Only problem is they run a game and the De comes under and forces the play the. other way.

Would have been a huge gain if he could have cut right bu the stunt forced it back. Still got 7 yards on it.

Still get a nice gain on it.

Vs. 3-3 Stack

The LB is the read key. He goes with the swing so the QB keeps it.

The LG and LT work the DE to the OLB.

The Center has to solo the Nose and the QB can play off his block.

You can see the hole open up really nicely as the blocking develops. Great job and nice 10 yard gain on the play. They create nice angles with the scheme and the tackle just has to get the LB

Vs Bear Front

In Bear defense you will read the OLB or last man on the line of scrimmage as he is the player that will usually take the RB. If he peels run it. If he stays inside throw the swing to the RB

Heres the scheme as the T pulls to the LB

The LB vacates to take the RB so it leaves much room inside. Gives the QB a nice seem

Vs Notre Dame

They got a bear look and both the DE and Mike chased the swing. Easy TD in the red zone. OLB is already out of the picture and the mike goes with it too.

You can see the Mike #4 go with the RB so 2 players cover the RB.

Touchdown Wake!

I hope you enjoyed this analysis of the RPO. This is an easy play to install and add to your 11 and 10 personnel package.
