We've reached week 4 in the NFL: 1st Quarter Analysis and Quick Takes!
We have reached the first quarter mark in the NFL and I have my analysis thus far. Lets take a look and see where we are at.
Biggest Surprise
Colts: The Colts are playing very competitive football and are currently 2-2. The Seahawks are better than everyone thought and are currently 2-1. Let’s see how they do against the Giants tonight!
Biggest Team Disappointment
The Bengals: Too much talent to be 1-3 to start the year and the Patriots are struggling on the offensive side of the football
Biggest Individual Disappointment
Many of the young QB have been inconsistent. This includes Trevor Lawrence and Desmond Ritter as the Falcons have all the pieces in every other area to compete for a playoff birth. I still need to see more from Lawrence but the talent is there.
Best Defensive Improvement
The Cleveland Browns are very good on the defensive side under the leadership of Jim Schwartz. The unit has kept them in every game.
The Chiefs defense has let up 15 points per game in 4 games and has been arguably the best unit on the field.
The Seahawks just gave up 3 to the Giants and their secondary has improved a ton with Love and Witherspoon on the back end. They are a very good unit. Shane Waldon is a head coach in the making on the offensive side.
Biggest Defensive Regression
What happened to the Denver Broncos Defense. Man, they were so good last year and this year are struggling in every aspect of the game. They have let up 150 points and are leading the league in points allowed. Payton firing Evero may have been a mistake.
Week 4 Wake Up Calls
It was nice to see to Zach Wilson and Justin Fields have excellent games. Isaiah Pacheco is fun to watch and the real deal at running back for the Chiefs. Very underrated in all aspects of the game. Fields got the team in position for a game winning field goal and they didn’t kick it. Wilson played a great game except for 1 fumble late that hurt them.
Teams We Aren’t Sure If They Are Good
The Falcons have some weapons and tools but are currently 2-2 and in a 4 way log jam in the NFL South.
The Jaguars have been ok but Trevor needs to start putting it together. They should be better than 2-2.
The Dolphins have been impressive but ran into a formidable opponent in the Bills. They have struggled against above average passing attacks, giving up 48 to the Bills and 34 to the Chargers. The defense is still a big question mark.
De Ja Vu
The Ravens are back to being the Ravens! Playing the smash mouth type of style with a great rushing attack and solid defense. Zay Flowers had 3 catches last week and the other wr had 1.Mark Andrews is still the guy in the passing attack.
Unbeatens
The Eagles and 49ers are the only unbeaten teams in the league. Both are playing good football although the Eagles defense has some issues.
Winless
The Panthers and Bears are winless and desperately in need of a win.
Parity
Only 10 of the 32 teams have winning records. It seems like their is some elite teams and the rest will be knocking each other off.
QB Rookie of the Year
CJ Stroud has been very good. 1200 passing yards , 6 touchdowns and 0 interceptions has kept the Texans at 2-2. Demeco Ryans has the team playing good football.
Tough Road Ahead
The Chargers are 2-2 and after the bye week play the Chiefs and Cowboys. Will be a tough stretch ahead!
Coach Kou’s Top 3
I see the 49ers, Cowboys and Eagles as the top 3 teams in the NFL right now. But that being said, the Eagles defense needs to step up and be more consistent
Teams that will rely on their defense
In order to have a playoff year, the Jets, Chiefs and Steelers need to play good defense in order to make the playoffs. The Chiefs still have the best qb on the planet and a great o line, but the wr core may catch up with them. Again, they have the best qb on the planet!
That’s it for this week. I hope you enjoyed this post!
