The Rams are a very good offense. In 2023, they were 9th in the league in scoring and 7th in yards per game. Statistically, they were very good. Schematically they are trendsetters, often using concepts that the rest of the league utilizes. One of those is their bunch and subtle motion package. Link Here Rams Subtle Motion

The Rams use bunch as much as anyone in the league. They do a ton out of it including subtle motion but this article looks at their concepts when they are in bunch or motion to it.

Without Motion

Snag concept

This is one of their favorite concepts. They love to run snag from bunch.

They run a snag variation with a corner route and point man running the crossing route.

Kupp finds the opening in the zone and sits down.

The Steelers are in a quarters variation with the OLB buzzing the flat with the quarters look. They are also reading #3 on the backside.

Another snag concept with #2 on the corner route and #1 running the snag. You have a dig on the backside. Answer vs cover 2.

It’s quarters and Kupp running the hitch at 8 yards holds the cb. It allosw the #2 wr to work 1 on 1 with the safety.

#2

This is a nice variation as they run #1 on out #2 on the corner and # on the crossing route. The concept has answers vs every coverage. In the example below the defense is in 42, 4 to the strength and 2 to the other side.

vs cover 4 he has the easy throw to the flat. If it was true 2 he would work frontside to the backside dig. Nice concept and design and the read takes him to the out cut by Kupp.

film!
